Encryption

To encrypt all of your TopXNotes notes simply enter a password consisting of 25 or fewer characters in the Preferences Security tab. This is your main TopXNotes password and TopXNotes will not open your notes without it.*

Individual notes may be encrypted so only someone with the password can display and modify the note.**

To encrypt a note, choose Note Password from the Notes menu or click the "Protect" button (lock) in the toolbar as shown below.

This will bring up the Edit Note Password dialog as shown below.

Type in a password consisting of 4-25 characters and click OK. (Check "Show as I type" to see what you are typing.)

Once a note is encrypted, the user will be prompted to enter the correct password every time before that note is displayed. To allow this check to be made only on launch of the application, go to the Notes menu and choose Note Settings. In the Note Settings dialog, uncheck ”Require password for every access."

To un-encrypt a note, choose Note Password from the Notes menu or click the "Unprotect" button (open lock) in the toolbar as shown below.

To remove the password delete the text in the password field, leaving it blank.
